Country estate in the Southern Highlands

About Me

My photo
Southern Highlands, NSW
Welcome to my world. I am a young Shi Tzu puppy who lives in considerable comfort at Lynwood Farm with THEM. I’m fascinated by the way people live - in the rooms they build, the gardens they plant, the treasures they collect and the comfort they create. THEY give me the complete run of the house, so I will be able to show you lots of pictures of life at Lynwood.

Spread. Spread. Spread.

Spreading out over the house on weekend at Lynwood. Reading, studying (for one), cooking, walking and sleeping for THEM.  Walking, sleeping and playing for us.
About once a week there is a local farmers market, which is always on the agenda, to buy seedlings for the kitchen garden, or simply to get delicious local produce.
THEY say there isn't a better way to spend the weekend, whether you live between country and city or full time in the country.

How nice to see the winter sun !

this is me on HIS lap !

Wood basket all stocked up in readiness for the rugby (Australia won !)

I'm not really supposed to chew the underlay !

We all went on Sunday to the new produce market in the grounds at Biota (which is usually a very smart restuarant) - this market is on the last Sunday of every month.
Back home the local organic produce made for a wonderful lunch. THEY especially loved the Pecora blue goats cheese that was made just down the road from Lynwood (in their first year, Pecora won a gold medal at the Royal !)

Off on the 'grand tour' before afternoon tea in the sun room. That's me in the lead.

At Home with my friend Jasper

Do you remember  in the early days of this blog when we visited my friend Jasper - he who looks very glam on a white sofa -  and his father  Cameron Kimber (he of the eponymous design company) ?  Well, SHE heard a whisper that Cameron might be selling his house and thought you would like to take a better peek.

(that is not Cameron in the reflection, but it could be !)

Of cabbages and kings

"The time has come, the Walrus said,
to talk of many things,
of shoes - and ship - and sealing wax,
and cabbages and kings"

or in this case, cabbages and Shi Tzu's
(apologies to Lewis Carroll).

THEY do eat rather a lot of cabbage in the winter. SHE loves the way it looks in rows in the kitchen garden - lots of different varieties, so its jolly lucky it's one of HIS favourite veg.
SHE says one of the great pleasures in life is to go basket in hand and pick dinner moments before you cook it, knowing its so healthy because of HIS organic compost and no nasty chemicals. Actually we usually do the picking on the return of our walk through Italy France and England. The three paddocks at Lynwood are named after these countries, so Bella, Sally (when she's here) and I do what we very grandly call 'The Grand Tour' most afternoons on a nice mowed path HE has made for us.

First cabbage of the season.

Last of the zucchini, constant leeks and delish tender lettuce.

These are all from the garden - beetroot, fennel, potatoes, carrots & garlic.

As you can see SHE hasn't had luck so far with the Brussell Sprouts, but Bella is sure they are in there somewhere - that's me on the left.

HE & John built our garden just high enough to be Shi-Tzu proof !
